WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE ?

Acupuncture is an ancient practice developed centuries ago long before conventional medicine as we know it today was available. It is a holistic practice, and has always been used to promote health at the physical, mental and emotional levels by tapping in to the body’s energy system, clearing any blockages, and promoting the flow of the energy (Qi) along the channels (a series of pathways that run throughout the body).

The flow of energy can be blocked by many factors, such as stress, overwork, emotional problems, poor nutrition and other lifestyle habits, physical accidents and traumas. By inserting extremely fine needles into specific points on the channels the flow of energy can be restored, bringing the body back to a healthy state of balance.

Diagnosis of ailments are made after a broad look at all aspects of a person’s life, including aspects that may not have been the reason for coming for a treatment, and which you may not have expected to be questioned on. The treatment is tailor made for each individual, and the results often bring unexpected benefits to minor ailments alongside the main condition, leading to an overall feeling of well-being.

I practice an integrated style of acupuncture, using both the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and the Five Elements approach.

TCM looks at the current state of health and identifies seemingly diverse symptoms into groups or patterns of imbalances. This allows for a diagnosis based on the patterns of disharmony resulting from these imbalances.

The Five Elements approach looks at the relationship between all the channels within the five elements, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. By identifying the person’s constitution and underlying root organ where the problem lies, and if over or under energy, we can see how to move the flow of energy between the elements to create harmony and balance.

I had Alopecia Totalis and lost all my hair in Autumn 2015, four doctors told me that it was irreversible. I began treatment with Sasha in October 2015, and began seeing some growth by December. I had treatment for a year, by which time my hair was growing quite long, albeit with some thin patches. Six months later I was so glad to no longer have to wear a wig, and the doctors, of course, are very pleased for me with the outcome. Sasha's commitment to find the best possible way to treat me was amazing. MJ
